Communications Support

Donate

Communications support is provided by radio operators with backgrounds ranging from military communications (MOS 25x and 18E) to specially trained civilian HAM radio operators. All volunteers are trained on FEMA ICS standards and are familiar with emergency operations center communications and message relays. Properly licensed and trained personnel who exhibit the professionalism of first responders are selected to serve with SOS-ER MRPs to coordinate communications with the deployed team.

Potential volunteers or Agencies requiring our services contact us by phone or email below:

We maintain an affiliate partnership with Middle Tennessee Emergency Amateur Repeater System (MTEARS) which is its own separate entity that has agreed to partner with Special Operations Support - Emergency Response in order to provide communications in support of ESF #2 to Mission Readiness Packages (MRPs) and served agencies.

MTEARS has an established repeater system providing communications capabilities from one end of the state to the other. This infrastructure enables MRPs or Incident Command System (ICS) personal a means of getting messages out of and into disaster or incident zones where normal communications infrastructures may have failed (e.g. land lines, cellular towers). This also means for the state of Tennessee that at almost any location in the state, incident commanders can reach the state EOC at TEMA headquarters. Properly licensed and trained personnel who exhibit the professionalism of first responders are selected to serve with SOS-ER MRPs to coordinate communications with the deployed team.
