Become certified to SCUBA Dive with a NAUI certification
The Open Water SCUBA Diver course is an entry level course.
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are considered competent to engage in open water diving activities without supervision, provided the diving activities and the areas dived approximate those of training.
Prerequisites
Age. Minimum is 15 years by the water phase of the course. (Junior certification for ages 10-14 years is allowed. Talk to one of our instructors for Junior certification details.)
Certification/Experience/Knowledge. There is no prior certification required to enter this course.
Course Description (minimum of 17 hours including at least 10 water hours)
**** NOTE ****
The “10 hours” of confined water training are a minimum! The goal of these sessions are to ensure both the student and the instructors that the skills required to be a safe diver have been successfully demonstrated. For some this requires more confined water training and practice than others.
This course has an eLearning component which must be completed at your own pace prior to actual class sessions. The total eLearning time is estimated to be 14 hours or more. Remember, eLearning is at your own pace. However, we feel that some chapters require more than just the eLearning in order to build your confidence as a diver and so that the instructors are sure you will be a safety conscious diver once they certify you. For this reason we will require some virtual classroom attendance. Once registered our instructors will be available to answer questions at any time along your new adventure.
The class sessions (in addition to eLearning) will consist of
2 or more virtual classroom sessions
4 or more confined water sessions (the later sessions may be held at a local quarry). This sessions do not count towards the required open water dives in order to obtain certification.
A Minimum of 4 open water check out dives with the instructors.
Provided Gear
We provide buoyancy compensator (BC), regulator sets, cylinders (tanks), and air fills for the course.
Students must provide their own:
Mask, snorkels, fins, dive boots, weight belts, and soft weights (we will assist in where to obtain this gear).
Wetsuit or any other rental gear.
Open water Checkout Dive options:
Local Quarry check out dive fees (usually a daily fee per diver) are not included in the cost of the course.
